English Speaking Lessons

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU? ...
English is not your first language. You read, write, and understand it well.  But speaking English is still a challenge.

You are not alone. For adult language learners, speaking is usually the hardest skill to master. This is especially true if you are not speaking English all the time, or you have just moved to an English-speaking country.
WANT RESULTS? WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL TEACHER.
The best way to improve your English speaking skills is to work with a certified ESL teacher.

Karen Schiff, founder of Well Said Coaching, earned her certification in Teaching English as a Second Language at UC Berkeley in 2016. Since then, she has helped hundreds of learners from around the world communicate in English more clearly and more confidently.

"Karen is experienced, passionate and generous. She is quite flexible and always tailors the classes to my needs. If she notices out some other areas we need to work on, like pronunciation or speech pace, she will add these contents into following classes." -- Dai-Yin L. [Mandarin speaker]
"I can recommend Karen because she is an excellent teacher and super professional. Her classes are funny, very entertaining, and she helps you to learn fast, I had a fantastic experience with her classes." -- Emanuel C. [Spanish speaker]

Yes. The lessons are on Zoom. In-person lessons may be available if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Do you teach students outside the U.S.?
Yes! I have taught students around the world. The only requirement is a reliable internet connection and access to Zoom.
How much does it cost?
Please see the rates.
How do I pay?
We will email you an invoice. You can pay online using any major credit card or Cash App. If you live in China, you can use WeChat Pay or AliPay.
How do I schedule lESSONS?
Our online scheduling tool makes it easy to book your lessons.
What Levels Do You Teach?
Intermediate (B1/B2) to advanced levels (C1). If you are essentially fluent (C2), our public speaking lessons are probably a better fit for you.
Do you teach beginners?
No, simply because adult beginners need a lot of class time.  Private lessons are not frequent enough or cost-effective for these learners. Community college or private language schools are a much better option.
What ARE THE MATERIALS AND PRACTICE LIKE?
We use a variety of well-designed ESL materials. Two programs that we frequently use are Fluentize and Off2Class. Both provide fun, engaging lessons with plenty of opportunity for speaking practice. After your lesson, you will have a practice assignment that you will record. Karen will review your practice and give you feedback.
Do you offer a Free Consultation?
Yes! Please schedule your free consultation.
CAN I TRY A LESSON BEFORE I BUY A PACKAGE?
